Star Trek: Early Voyages was an original comic series written by Dan Abnett and Ian Edginton and published by Marvel in 1997 and 1998
There were seventeen comics produced based on the adventures of Captain Pike and his crew on the USS Enterprise as depicted in the TOS pilot The Cage. The series featured the characters established in that episode as well as new crew persons created for series, most of the characters had stories centred on them so were generally quite developed for the short amount of story time the series had.
The series was structured with single and multipart stories including story arcs which appeared throughout, including references to an ongoing conflict with the Tholians and the Chakuun and a reccurring adversary; the Klingon Kaaj.
