Lak'Tral was a Klingon scientific outpost near the Klingon/Romulan border
In 2377 scientists on Lak'Tral began to study a recently discovered alien contagion (in fact, the Warden nanite virus), a pair of scientists soon decided to liase with the Federation on the contagion and left Lak'Tral to meet with the USS Leyte Gulf. Shortly after a Romulan task forced arrived hoping to obtain the contagion to study themselves. A battle occurred in which a Romulan Griffin class ship crashed into the colony, in orbit above the Warbird IRW Tekel took care of the base's guardian Bird-of-Prey.
On the planet, forces from the Griffin class stormed the base, capturing scientists and battling Klingon warriors. Fortunately the Bird-of-Prey was able to put out a distress call and the USS Incursion responded, driving off the Warbird and sending an away team to take care of the Romulans on the surface and rescue the scientists.
