[edit] Summary

The USS Enterprise departs Starbase 2 where Janice Lester, pending charges, awaits transport Elba II. The Enterprise, resupplied and recrewed, proceeds to rendezvous with the Potekmin at Beta Aurigae.

James T. Kirk leaves Spock in command and heads for his quarters, greeting an attractive new ensign en route.

In his quarters he fiddles with a chess piece whilst pondering his life; He feels sure that, even given recent events, he could not imagine doing anything else with his life other than commanding the Enterprise.

The rest of the comic consists of Kirk reciting the TOS opening monologue with various views of the Enterprise and her crew.
