CBS Paramount Television is the company that owns all five Star Trek television series and which retains ownership of the Trek franchise. A division of CBS, Incorporated, CBS Paramount Television was created when Viacom separated itself intwo two corporations, Viacom and CBS, Inc. Viacom retained ownership of Paramount Pictures, which Paramount Television had been a division of. Paramount Television was made a division of CBS, Inc., and given its current name. Paramount Pictures retains ownership of the Trek films through license from CBS Paramount Television.
