Artificial gravity generator
Memory Beta, the wiki for licensed Star Trek content.
An Artificial gravity generator is a component of most starships and facilities which generates gravity allowing occupants to navigate the location as they would a location on a planetary body rather than the zero-gravity of space.
In 2254 the USS Enterprise was able to disable the USS Cortez's artificial gravity generator when the two ships were battling which gave the Enterprise some time to recover whilst the Cortez's controllers were distracted by the lack of gravity. (EV comic: Cloak and Dagger)
